My crocus made a lovely and early show this year. They always catch me by surprise somehow, which is what I love about them.

It's also gotten warm enough for our bees to come out. One of our two hives made it through the winter. The other one starved just a week before we were able to get food to them. So close.

Danny's broken finger, the result of playing outside again. Yes, he really is that excited about it! Clay dropped a rock not knowing Dan was under him. It just broke right where you wear a ring. The splint will be on 3 weeks. He's a great trooper about it.

And now our most exciting sign of spring, our adventure with a BYU scientist to see a bear and her cub out in the Book Cliffs of eastern Utah. This is a tree right outside the den.

This is the mama bear, a rough old girl, in front of her den, tranquilized.

And here's the cutie. Oh, and the bear cub's pretty darling as well. One of the scientists held him so we could all pet him and see him up close. The cub I mean.
