This is when we learned how to make zhong zi, the traditional Dragon Boat Festival food. They are made from rice and other goodies wrapped up in bamboo(?) leaves. You have to wrap them just so or you may get slapped by an old lady and made to do it again! :)
various baked goods we were gifted

Good mango bing!
This is the seafood pizza, yum!
Here is various kinds of tofu, some chicken, beef noodles, pi dan (thousand year or century egg, it is black, through and through!).
Dinner box, you often didn't know if something was meat, fish, seafood, mushroom, egg, or some yet unimagined type of food! Every bite an adventure!
Even airplane food was new to us
Breakfast buffet
Dumplings
Mushroom soup and other tasty treats
Red beans and tofu, a cold sweet dessert treat
Pig blood rice
Buffet!
lotus seed rice wrapped in lotus leaf
Lotus flower tea with dried lotus seeds
Whole chicken
Fish on the left, a lovely fern dish at the back, can't remember the front one
And here's the chicken on our plate! It came with plastic gloves to tear it apart.
traditional bing, no fruit options this time!
The orange is not mango, its squash, there is red bean mush, gelatinous things, I really don't know what anything is, but we got to choose 5 to go on the shaved ice...
