Taiwan Travel

Have I mentioned that this was Dan's first time on an airplane? We first took a 2 hour flight to LA, from about 10 till midnight. He got a short nap. Then we flew 14 hours to Taipei. He was happily awake the entire flight! I kept falling asleep here and there, but he was wired the whole time.
China Airlines had the cutest meals! When we were preparing to board our flight home, I said "Hey everybody, remember when the airline food on our flight here was the strangest thing we had eaten?" We all had a good laugh at that!
Exchange rate, about 30 Taiwan Dollars to 1 US Dollar
Our bus, or our home away from home (away from home). Sadly we were not able to capitalize on the karaoke option.
We rode on the top level, bags stored on bottom level. Tassels galore.
How 1st class gets to travel to Taiwan, seats recline flat, personal lamp, desk and large TV screen. Our seats were pretty normal, but did have a personal screen with lots of options for movies and a cool feature to show your flight path. Also a charger, so unlimited iPad.
We were able to take a few days and fly to the island of Jinmen (aka Kinmen, formerly Quemoy). We took this tiny plane which was cool.
This is an aerial of Jinmen. You can see China in the background. There is only a mile between this island and China, but more on that in another post!
The way home saw a much more tired little boy.

Dan slept hard on the flight home to America. Taiwan is 14 hours ahead of Utah, and the plane ride back to LA was only 12 hours, so basically we arrived before we left...Crazy huh? Jet lag was a bear, but Dan got over it pretty well. It nearly killed me, but eventually I recovered as well.

Our Welcome party. Eric's sign says Welcome Home (we think).
