Canyonlands, The Needles District

The park campground was full again, but this outpost was right adjacent. It had great rocks to climb around on.
You can kind of see in this picture why the area is called the needles district with the tall thin rock formations.
Sunset lights the area around our camp.
This was one of my favorite flowers. And we finally found a lizard willing to sit still long enough to photograph him.

About 6 miles into our 9 mile loop we finally found a deep water hole to swim in. This smaller one had a little waterfall even.
This bigger one was super deep. I could dive in no problem. The water was quite refreshing.

Newspaper rock was a few miles out of Canyonlands. This is just a section of it, an amazing concentration of petroglyphs.
