San Rafael Swell

Wild horses! This mare and colt also had a black stallion right behind them.
Camp spot. The tent is placed so close to the van so the van could block the wind from blowing the tent away! Lonely bluff tops with great views also meant maximum exposure to the gusts! We had brought Bocce to play, and this was the best place imaginable to play it. Lots of fun. Plus the wind didn't bother the heavy balls.
Me sitting at the fire at sunset. People had dragged big pieces of shale around the fire ring that made really comfy chairs.
oooooh, aaaaahhhh.
We piled all our wood on for a bonfire, resting assured there was no chance of it spreading in this really barren area. This is eric behind the fire. Normally the blaze was more horizontal, but every now and then the wind would pause, and it would stand up straight.
This little fella ran out from the fire ring when it got a little too hot for his taste. I realized I was ready to go home and hug my kids again when I found it hard to stop comforting and cooing at the lizard.
