Mesa Verde

Cliff Palace. It looks like a little toy village from this view. I guess the alcove is really quite deep and the rooms go back and back. They really were amazing villages and it was fun to learn about and see them up close. They farmed the flatland above with corn, beans and squash. Now it's just dense juniper.
The tour of Balcony house if fun because you get to go on lots of ladders and through some great tunnels. Apparently ancient puebloans were quite petite!
Whenever we got a glimpse of the cliffs across the gorge we could almost always find a dwelling. This one is window house I believe. Looks tough to get to, eh?
Eric's favorite part, possibly of the whole vacation was holding a 700 year old cob of corn at spruce tree house.
Eric emerging from a kiva, an underground room that was pretty cool.
